Why is a dwell time of 0 seconds displayed for some visits?
When analyzing website data, it can happen that some visits have a dwell time of “0 seconds” even though several pages have been viewed. This may seem confusing at first, but it has a plausible explanation and does not necessarily mean that the visitor did not spend any time on the website.
JavaScript blocking by the visitor
In some cases, JavaScript may be disabled in the visitor’s browser or blocked by browser extensions such as ad blockers. Since many web analytics tools, including SalesViewer®, also use JavaScript to track interactions on the website, blocking it may result in certain actions not being captured. In this case, this may affect the accuracy of the measured dwell time.
Even if the dwell time is displayed as 0 seconds, such visits can still provide valuable insights. They show that the page or content has generated enough interest to be clicked on. They can also indicate potential for improvement in terms of content, design or user experience, especially if certain pages are used more frequently as entry points.
